The guns at cabo tinoso are worth the short drive (see local info)

The Santa Elena tower at the end of the bay has beautiful views across the bay.(see local info)

Cartagena is a fascinating city including a large port and roman ruins  and amphitheatre. (www.discoveringcartagena.com )

Murcia is around an hour away with its Cathedral ,old buildings and  shopping .  Be aware it is very hot in July and August .

South of Mazarron there are number of unspoilt beaches and the port town of Aguilas is interesting.
